Minimum Space Requirements was created by YYCPIPINGGUY
Hi wondering if anyone can share what their company policy is for spacing requirements of process equipment, MCC buildings etc? I used to have a chart but lost it that gave some sketches and distances between flare stack to heaters/treaters, tanks etc?

Much appreciated! This would also be for facilities in Alberta, Canada

YYCPIPINGGUY,

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for ... but it should set you on the right track.

YYCPIPINGGUY (and any others),
If you are concerned about the installation of a type of equipment that is not on ether of the two list above please consider the following issues:
(1) Location - Equipment should be adjacent to the related equipment that is upstream or down stream in the system.
(2) Space Requirements include the following:
a - the physical space of the equipment itself (size and shape)
b - The space to remove any component part (example: tube bundles, pistons, etc.)
c - The space for all equipment related piping including Inlet, outlets, vents, drains, and all process , instrument and utility services.
d - The space for related Services such as electrical Power Feed, Lighting, Instrumentation, etc
e - Space for Maintenance personnel, tools and spare parts during normal operation
f - Space and access for mobile equipment required for specific maintenance activities including clear overhead for lifting via crane.
g - Travel space for Operators to and from the equipment for normal operations
h - Clear path to safety in case of emergency

If you have thought about each of these issues and can defend your design then you should be in good shape.
