AIR COOLER Vendor supplied was created by nazimwildfire
I am on a Project in which I am dealing with air coolers, I have got heaters within it which have steam inlet and condensate outlet.

I am not clear to what is the purpose actually, you have an air cooler to cool the content in the pipe and how can the heaters be placed exactly below the air coolers.

I can understand their fuctions when they stand alone but why have the combined them togather.
Then again one of my seniours was saying that once a equpment is given by the vendor into the site then no more weld can be plced on the equpment in this way we have to provide the vendor about alll the supportings etc well before he fabricates it.

Please clarify me.

Nazim.

The first thing you should do is ask the Process Engineer this question.

If none are available (or willing to assist you) then I will offer this.

I once worked on a project that was located in a near arctic environment (very cold). Some times the ambient air was too cold for the process. In order to make the process work properly the air had to be warmed up a little. The only way to do this is to put steam coils under the process coils. The steam coils were not used all the time, only when the temperature got below a certain level.
I hope this helps.

It may be possible your friend there is concerned about the possibility of "Voiding" the vendor warrenty on the Air Cooler.
I think this might apply more to the pressure containment parts rather than the structural frame. However, this could be considered a "gray" (1) area.
You (your company) should contact the Air Cooler vendor and clearify the need for and the adding pipe supports to the structural frame. They may (should) say 'no problem, just tell us what you need, where you need it and how much loading the support needs to take." They will also charge your company a fee for the added engineering, material and labor.
On the other hand, if you do not tell them about these supports, get their approval and cooperation and then they find out about them there could be trouble.

(1) Some legal issues are either all "black" or all "white." Then there are some that are somewhere in between.
