RTJ Piping was created by ashokaa
Dear Friends...
I would like to know how do we remove the valve in RTJ Facing piping. I know we cannot remove directly like RF piping. Are we needed to provide 90 degree elbow with spool flange every valve?
If we provide 90degree elbow with spool flange still we can’t pull in any direction. Am I correct?

The pipe line size almost 8” to 12”. We cannot provide more spool flanges because cast will increase.

Please advise me how we remove the valve? Actually what method using in Site?

Your piping design must have some flexibility that allows the piping to be sprung for the installation and removal of RTJ gaskets, valves and spools.

No! You cannot use "Jack Screws" to remove a valve with Ring Joint Flanges (& Gaskets).

Here is the reason.
Jack Screws are installed through one flange and press against another flange. In the case of a valve situation the Jack Screw would not be installed in the valve, it would be installed in the adjoining flange. It would then press against the valve. With it pressing against the valve you would not be able to remove the valve.

Jack Screws are normally used to install and remove Gaskets, Spectacle blinds, Figure 8 blinds or paddle blind and spacers. These items fit between the flanges so the Jack Screws are used to spread the flanges so the item can be removed or inserted.

You have already gotten the answer the tells you to provide flexibility in the piping to allow for the removal of a valve. That is the correct advice, you should listen and follow it.

Do it once and Do it Right

ashokaa, only one thing I could add to Job's comment above: most of the time you can find jack screws on the orifice flange set.
