Adjustable Spring Wedge Support was created by Nipper
Can anybody here explain the make up of an Adjustable Spring Wedge Support used on Pulsation Suppression Devices on the Inlet and discharge of reciprocating compressors. I have seen them called up on GA's but cannot find a detail for them.

BOY this is going to be rough to do with just verbiage! But here goes
...Basically you have 2 short lengths of 1 1/2" pipe (about 9"LG.) With a 9/16"Dia. hole drilled thru the center of both pieces (90 Deg.s to bore). Then you take a 1/2" Dia solid steel rod, thread (UNC) both ends. One end has a nut and washer the other end the same but with 2 washers and a spring. Now thread this bolt thru the hole on the 1 1/2" pipe, and then do the same on the other end but position a washer next to the 1 1/2" pipe then the spring and then the other washer and nut. THIS is the cradle that holds the pipe (inlet & disch off compressor)
Hang on, half way home!
… Now the base ...this is a stl. plate about 1/2" to 3/4" thk. a about 12” Sq. This is embedded into support (poured in concrete supt. or welded to steel supt.) on this plate two each Sq. rods are welded to the base plate ...these sq. rod are 1/2" Sq. and welded to the base plate 180 Deg.s from each other (opposite ends) …AND 9 1/2" apart (inside to inside dim.) all centered on 12” plate. NOW you can lay the cradle (from above) on the base plate, between the two Sq. Rod. (you SHOULD have 1/4" clearance from end of pipe (1 1/2") to 1/2" Sq. rod. You when weld two limit tabs on the base plate (1/2 to 3/4 thk plate) to limit travel side to side AND by tighten the thread rod ...squeeze the two 1 1/2 pipes together to raise of lower the setting on the wedge. Sq. Rod limits travel along the run of the main header (inlet disch) and limit tabs limit movement side to side (as I indicated earlier)
WALA ...a spring wedge! Clear as mud!?? *G*
SO if this doesn't do it for you I have a PDF file I can send you ...PROBLEM is I'm heading out on vacation for a week. SO if you still need it then, I'll send it to you. Good Luck my friend! ...Mark
