My opinion:
Items that should be covered on a Piping Department Valve Data Sheet are:
- Applicable Specification (Example: API 600 Cast Steel Valves)
- Valve Type (Rising Stem Gate Valve, etc.)
- Valve Class (Class 300, etc.)
- Body Material (Carbon Steel)
- Valve Size Range (example: 3” to 12”)
- Maximum operating pressure
- Minimum test pressure
- Maximum/Minimum Operating Temperature
- Commodity
- Liquid/Gas/Slurry
- Trim Material (Seats, etc)
- Stem Packing Type
- Bonnet attachment (Bolted, Welded, Screwed, etc)
- Factory Testing requirements (if any)
- Painting/Coating requirements (if any)
- Packing requirements (Domestic only or overseas)

Each type of valve (Gate, Plug, Ball, Butterfly) will tend to have some of the same technical points but will have many points that are different. You will need to take a catalog of different valve types and build a Data sheet for each type.
