How to set standard spacing

Normal pipe spacing in a pipe rack is:
Flange (O. D.) of largest line to Pipe (O. D.) of second line plus 1 inch space plus insulation thickness (on the pipe and/or the flange if any).

Extra spacing for expansion is required when the pipe turns a corner but effects the spacing of the whole line. Here you take the distance from the Anchor to the turn, times the coefficient of expansion of the pipe material. This results in the total amount of expansion (growth or movement) for that length of pipe. You add this movement to the normal pipe spacing defined above.

Example: 300 feet (100 meters) long pipe run @ 300 degrees F (149 C)

Place the Anchors at the Pipe support nearest the two ends as possible, add a loop in the middle of the run and add Guides at every other Pipe Support.
