Dear All,
Pls provide your inputs. I am developing a slug catcher area layout for cross-country pipeline of 100kms.
What are all facilities you may need in this slug catching facility. Process has confirmed that it will be a vessel type slug catcher.

What are the seperation distance requirements in between the vessel & other facilities? Or it is not required specifically.

Also let me know the typical points to be considered while developing a layout for the same.

There is no "magic" layout for a slug catcher, a slug catcher is a vessel or a piping configuration (Harp Slug Catcher) that catches the liquid in a gas line so you don't get a "slug" of liquid trying to go through the compressor (liquid can't compress). So you'd treat it like most vessels, you'll need maintenance & operational access, and if positioned near the compressor, try not to position it in an area that blocks access to the compressor (they normally need alot of maintenance). ...Good Luck!

Thanks 11echo for your inputs.

Sometimes I think I am giving undue importance to the things I haven't done before. I think you are right, it is not a magic layout it is just another vessel.

Developed it that way & hopefully will not receive major comments from the other disciplines involved.

There is a pig receiver & launcher inside this area & managed it from our regular requirements like Safety, Operations, maintenance, Construction keeping the area (COST) as small as possible.

Would love to share the layout with you, will get back with more details shortly.

Thanks again & as you said I need to think simply (not making it complicated in first go).
