Karthikv ...You'll need some more information, what's the launcher/receiver configuration (horiz or vertical), what type of pigs are going to be used (maintenance pigs, "smart" pigs, or both), and what size line is this going to be? Once you have this info the rest can be pretty easily found.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
please see the reply for your questions.

1) what's the launcher/receiver configuration (horiz or vertical), Horizontal Only for Information ( Consider Both the case Vertical & Horizontal ) what will be the diffrence in claculation for both

2) what type of pigs are going to be used (maintenance pigs, "smart" pigs, or both) Maintenance Pig ( Consider Both the case )

3) what size line is this going to be? 10"

Give a me a general Thum rule are criteria to calculate the above length & dia of Pig Launcher .

Thanks in Advnace.

Horizontal pig launchers take up a lot of room, so on a platform they lean to vertical launchers, but a horizontal launcher is not unheard of, especially with smaller lines. Major consideration is the layout …accessing the end of the barrel, end closure (easy open or just a davited blind flange – normally dictated by frequency of operation and/or cost), types of pigs …you indicated maintenance pigs so the barrel diameter is just one size larger (12” Dia. In your case) …smart pigs are 2 sizes larger (14”). Length is dictated by the longest pig that will be used (and remember things change all the time, so this could change too) rule of thumb I use is 1.5 to 2 times the longest pig to be used (receivers are abit different they are 2.5 to 3 times the pig length). The use of “barred tees” at each end (launcher & receiver), MOV (motor operated valves) on mainline block valves, Pig – Sig’s, special appurtenances on launcher to load longer pigs, PRV ( press relief valve) connection, drain connection, catch basin at end of barrel, & etc. Another issue does this launcher need to meet D.O.T. requirements? “IF SO” it need to be ASME coded.
These are the basic requirements that can and do affect launcher/receiver configurations. I ran across a good link that deals with a lot of this, try looking here:

…Good Luck!
