Where can I place anchor support on a straight line pipe with expansion loops?
How much span between anchor supports required for expansion loops?

The "Anchor" must be placed at a Primary Pipe Support (one designed and installed by the Civil/Structural Engineering group.)

The span between Primary Pipe Supports is normally adjustable after the approval and freezing of the Plot Plan.
The loop must be designed to (a) compensate for the thermal expansion without over stressing the pipe and (b) fit with-in the pipe support spacing and (c) be compatible with the other pipe loops in the same area.

Normally anchor is used to divide pipe runs in sub systems. So anchor is normally used where you need to isolate the system stress wise. Normally we used partial restraint in between loops which is an axial stop and a guide. So it leaves the rotational dimensions free to rotate. In stress terms it restricts Fx and Fy while Mx, My and Mz is free. Z is considered to be vertical.

The point of partial restraint is decided by the maximum displacement expected at the expansion loops. The more displacement is acceptable at the loops the further can be the anchor point away from the loop. Normally it is a company standard.

Cheers
