Piolopaskual,
It is obvious that you missed my #1 criteria from my first answer (above).
1. You need to understand the Clients criteria for the project. What is the Design Code (ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, etc) for the project and what does that Code say about Stress Analysis.
i.e.: What does the Project Piping Code in effect say about Stress Analysis?
Okay?

In "piolopaskual" last post he wrote:
"The ASME and API has other standard and code focusing on the safe operation of piping system such as the 570, 571, 580 and 579 to mention some."
For those who do not have a copy of these available or access to a comprehensive list here is what (I assume) he was referring to:
API 570 - Piping Inspection Code, In-Service Inspection, Rating, Repair and Alteration of Piping Systems
API 571 - Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment In The Refinery Industry
API 579 - Fitness-For-Service (FFS), Inspection of Storage Tanks
API 580 - Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Program Planning & Execution

Jop,
Thanks for your posting. I see it goes back to 2006. I'm just returning to engineering after several years as a pipefitter and welder. I'm looking for as much info as I can find to get me back up to speed.
